WELCOME!!!

Dear Fellow Rotarians & Guests,

Having first been acquainted with Rotary International when I was 15 years old as a young Interactor, I never expected this enormous privilege and honour to be installed as the Incoming President of Rotary Club of Suntec City tonight!

My first impression of a Rotarian is of the Rotarian Advisor of my Interact Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was extremely friendly, patient and encouraging. I thought to myself then, “Rotary must be such a wonderful organization that this working adult would take time out from his busy schedule to join us at our meetings!”

After being a Rotarian myself for the last six years, I have come to understand the passion and energy that incessantly drive my fellow comrades in service.

Unlike what the general public’s perception of Rotarians to be “rich old men having lunch at high-class hotels”, Rotarians belong to a network of passionate, big-hearted and motivated professionals and businesspeople who capitalize on our personal time, resources and connections to make a difference in our community and the world at large. Rotary International has been actively toiling in the past years to eradicate Polio from the face of the world, and with there being 4 countries left in the world where there are surges of Polio cases, we are almost there! Yes, we do a lot more than just having lunch!

In the upcoming year, my team and I will be focusing on the following areas:

1)      Disadvantaged children in various forms of disability

2)      Mentorship and leadership programs for schools through our Interact Clubs and Rotaract Club

3)      Energy conservation/sustainability

4)      International service projects

1. Chiangmai Hill Tribe School Project with our sister club Rotary Club of Patumwan
2. Bintan Primary School Project with our Interact Club

I would like to congratulate Outgoing President Lydia Goh and her team for having done such a magnificent job in flying our club’s flag high in the past Rotary year.

I look forward to another fruitful year ahead, with the support of my committed team and participation from our club members and friends, where we will continue to build communities and bridge continents to make our world a better place for us and our children.
